Dr. Sará King is a UCLA-trained neuroscientist, political and learning scientist, critical theorist, medical anthropologist, social entrepreneur, public speaker, and certified yoga and meditation instructor. Dr. King specializes in researching and teaching about the relationship between mindfulness, community alternative medicine, and social justice.
Most recently, she has been awarded the Oregon Fellowship for Diversity in Research, a Garrison Institute Fellowship, as well as she received the Society for Neuroscience Neuroscience Scholars award.
She currently works as a post-doctoral fellow in Neurology at Oregon Health Science University, as the Executive Director of Peace in Schools, a transformative mindfulness education non-profit, and as the Founder of MindHeart Consulting.
She is the creator of the “Science of Social Justice” framework for research and facilitation which stipulates that well-being and social justice are one and the same thing. She has been invited to give public talks and to create trauma healing circles and meditations based off of the Science of Social Justice for Nike, the Jordan Brand, the Ford Foundation, Mobius, Google, UC Berkeley, Stanford University, OHSU, UCLA, and UCSF.
